Best journalists of 2014 awarded in traditional ceremony

The Chisinau Press Club – the Independent Journalism Center and the Press Freedom Committee – has awarded the best journalists of the year in its XX Annual Gala held on December 18, IPN reports.

The 2014 best journalists are Natalia Morari, TV 7; Speranta State, PRO TV; Liliana Barbarosie, the Moldovan Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Service; Corneliu Rusnac, Radio Chisinau; Alina Turcanu, the RFE/RL Service's TV Department; Oxana Nesterova, newspaper “Экономическое Обозрение”; Ion Preasca, news portal Mold-Street; Vasile Botnaru, RFE/RL; Constantin Grigorita, photoreporter; and Timpul daily's Constntin Tanase, who was awarded posthumously.

Four special awards were also given. The Investigation of the Year Award went to the project RISE Moldova for the investigative piece “The Russian Laundromat: Moscow-Riga via Chisinau”. The award for promoting diversity was shared by the Bender-based freelancer Natalia Barbier and Teleradio-Gagauzia's Galina Maresieva. The Debut of the Year Award went to the business news portal Mold-Street, and the Hope of the Year Award was given to Radio Chisinau's Victoria Ungureanu.

The Press Club's XX Annual Gala was held with the financial support of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
