Sanitary doctors warned that the boiled wine sold in the square of “Birth of God’s Mother” Cathedral in Chisinau is not accompanied by documents that would coordinate the methods of preparing and selling it. Thirteen economic entities have received sale authorizations this year, said Liliana Gheorghita, of the Chisinau Council’s Trade, Public Food and Service Provision Division.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, sanitary doctor Paulina Caraman, of the Public Health Center, said that the sold boiled wine must meet technical and hygienic norms that should be laid down by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Public Health Center. “Such a document would coordinate and regulate the methods of preparing and selling boiled wine. There is no such document yet and we cannot say if the people who drink boiled wine in the square of the Cathedral expose themselves to risks or not,” said the doctor.
Ludmila Boscanean, senior specialist of the Trade Division’s Public Food Provision Regulation Section, has told Info-Prim Neo that the boiled wine is sold according to older regulations formulated by the former Ministry of Trade.
Trader Cristian Raileanu has sold boiled wine in the square since December 20. The wine is boiled in a container on the spot. He said that he had many clients during the holidays, especially in the evening. A glass of boiled wine of 150 ml costs 7 to 10 lei.
