Bomb squad destroys aerial bomb weighing 100 kg

An aerial bomb weighing 100 kg and dating from World War II was discovered in Ceadâr Lunga village of Leova district during agricultural works. This was destroyed at the Bulboaca training grounds. The Ministry of Defense said the National Army bomb squad demined 26 explosives found on Moldova’s territory in the course of August and this month so far, IPN reports.

The most recent demining mission was performed in Botanica district of Chișinău City. Workers found a 76 mm artillery shell dating from World War II at a building site. This was destroyed at the Bulboaca training grounds.

The other explosives that were mainly artillery shells of different calibers were found during agricultural or construction works and were destroyed at the same grounds.

So far this year, the military bomb squad performed 138 demining operations and destroyed 267 explosive devices.
