Book Salon will have 5000 titles on offer

The 21st edition of the International Book Salon, dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) and to the Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici Year, will have on offer over 5000 titles and will include over 30 cultural actions such as book launches, round tables, thematic exhibitions and creation workshops, Info-Prim Neo reports. Library director Alexe Rau told the press that publishing houses from 18 countries would participate in this year’s edition, with Azerbaijan taking part for the first time. The National Library prepared over 30 publications, which will be launched during a special event at the Salon. One of them is the tome “The History of the National Library of Moldova in archive documents”, by Tatiana and Ion Varta; the third tome of the general catalogue “The Book of Moldova”; the catalogue of the ex-libris contest “BNRM-180”; the catalogue “The Stamp of Moldova (1954-1996): from the art and maps collection of the National Library”; the catalogue “Books from the library of Count Alexandru Sturza in BNRM collections; the sixth tome of the collection of materials and documents “Bessarabians around the world” and others. The solemn meeting of the Scientific Council of the National Library will take place after the opening of the International Book Salon. The meeting is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the institution and will be attended by Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti. The Salon will take place between August 31 and September 4. The schedule includes a meeting with the readers, a special meeting of the Librarians Club with the participation of all the generations and ‘dynasties’ of librarians of the National Library, an anniversary symposium within the cultural-historical and scientific polyptych “Basarabians in the world”. The Library’s most loyal readers will be awarded money prizes.
