The hovercraft border crossing point Cosauti was closed on a temporary basis following the rise in the level of water in the Nistru River. Travellers can choose the similar point Soroca or the customs post Otaci, IPN reports.
The Border Police said that owing to the blocking of access roads to Ukraine, the local checkpoint Troitskoe stopped work. The border crossing points Saiti and Basarabeasca located nearby can be used instead. The border crossing points situated on the border with Ukraine and with Romania work as usual and the weather conditions didn’t affect their work.
The State Road Administration said the vehicles on the national roads travel in winter conditions. If need be, large trucks that are not properly outfitted are stopped by patrol officers for a period so as to safety execute snow removal works.
Contacted by IPN, press officer of the National Patrolling Inspectorate Alina Bunghez said the large trucks can now travel on the road sections that were closed to such types of vehicles on March 23.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, rescuers and firefighters performed over 50 operations to unblock and tow away units of transport, mainly in central and southern Moldova. The Inspectorate’s press officer Liliana Puscasu has told IPN that all the roads are passable and all the communities are supplied with electric power.
Those who experience difficulties caused by the unfavorable weather can call the emergency services 901, 902 and 903.
