Four fields of hemp were discovered hidden among other crops and will be burned, IPN reports.
According to the Border Police, over 400 hemp plants were found on a plot situated about 1 km from the Prut River. Another about 500 hemp plants were cultivated on a field between the villages Zberoaia and Balauresti.
The third field was identified near the Cismichioi – Slobozia Mare road. About 2,000 hemp plants were grown in the middle of a sunflower field. As many hemp plants were found on a sunflower field within the area of responsibility of the Branza Border Police Sector.
If it is proven that the hemp plants were grown with the aim of being sold, those to blame will be fined 12,000 to 18,000 lei or will be jailed for up to two years.
