The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) on September 1 endorsed the plan of action of the national public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova (TRM) for 2012. The Council’s members welcomed the TRM administration’s efforts to produce new programs and to gradually reorganize the public broadcaster, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The public broadcaster in 2012 aims to maintain the traditional radio program services (Radio Moldova, Radio Moldova Muzical, and Radio Moldova International) and to develop a new station – Radio Moldova Tineret, for youth. According to TRM president Constantin Marin, the new radio station will be launched in 2012. Next year, there will be continued the process of modernizing TV Moldova 1 and TV Moldova International by including new programs and updating the equipment.
“In 2012, Teleradio-Moldova intends to produce programs for different categories of Moldovans, regardless of the place of residence, social status, occupation, age, ethnicity, gender, religion, studies, and culture. The public company will also cover the anniversaries of such national and international events as 200 years of the annexation of Bessarabia in 1812, the United Nations Decade of Alphabetization, Education for All, 2003-2012, the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, 2005-2014, the Second Decade on Indigenous Peoples, 2005-2014, and the International Decade for Action Water for Life, 2005-2015,” said Constantin Marin.
Teleradio- Moldova pledges next year to produce at least 80% of the programs in Romanian, while the rest in Russian, Ukrainian, Gagauz and other languages of national minorities.
The public broadcaster from next year plans to raise employees’ salaries. BCC member Ludmila Vasilachi said the company’s reorganization should not envision massive layoffs. “We must appreciate the persons who dedicated their entire lives to the work on the radio and television,” she stated.
“The plan of action is much better than last year and it is good that TRM decided to invest more in the production of cultural programs as this is in fact the function of a public broadcaster,“ said BCC chairman Marian Pocaznoi.
The TRM’s plan of action for 2012 was approved by the Supervisory Board on August 30.
