The Broadcasting Coordination Council announced a contest to fill the 15 slots of Multiplex A for digital terrestrial television. Contacted by IPN, the Council’s head Dinu Ciocan said the national TV channels can file applications to take part in the contest within 30 days of the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette. The Council will examine the applications during 20 days and will then announce the winners.

The application file must contain the application and the TV channel’s work strategy and model of the weekly broadcast schedule. The winners will have to pay by €5,600 a month for using the obtained slot.

As Multiplex A does not have national coverage, the TV channels will continue to be received by analog signal, but the channels that will win the contest are free to decide if they want their signal to be transmitted also through ether and to cover the related costs.

Meanwhile, the state-run company “Radiocomunicatii” was issued with one more license for using radio frequencies/channel for providing electronic communications networks and services in the digital terrestrial television system with national coverage, this time for the national Multiplex B.
