The candies factory “Bucuria” will not suspend work, but is on a razor edge. It has sugar enough for producing candies during a day and if it is not supplied with sugar tomorrow, it will be unable to work, the company’s director general Roman Triachin said in a news conference on Monday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Roman Triachin said they informed about the shortage of sugar early in August. A meeting was then held at the Ministry of Agriculture, where it was decided to import 4 500 tonnes of sugar into the country. To be able to import the sugar, the factory was to be issued with an authorization certificate by the Licensing Chamber.
In order to obtain the authorization, the company had to prepare a set of documents, but it did not have enough time to collect them as a certificate of origin for sugar is issued within several weeks, while an examination certificate from the laboratory working in the UK and Germany can be obtained only at the end of September.
Roman Triachin said the sugar supplier Südzucker Moldova offered the company the amount of sugar needed for Monday, but there is no sugar for Tuesday. “We hope we will have sugar tomorrow. If not, we will have to suspend work,” he stated.
The financial director of SA “Bucuria” Ecaterina Cechina said a contract for the supply of sugar is to be signed with Südzucker Moldova the coming days. The previous contract expired on August 1.
Last weekend, the press reported that “Bucuria” will suspend work because it experiences a shortage of sugar.
