Bunet and Tohatin connected to municipal water supply system

The residents of Chisinau's suburban villages of Bunet and Tohatin have been connected to the municipal water supply system, Apa-Canal Chisinau said in a press release. To make this possible the utility rehabilitated the existent piping and built a new 6.5 kilometer long pipe. The new pipe, which cost about 3 million lei to build, has 31 shafts and 7 fire hydrants. Apa-Canal director Constantin Becciev stated that thanks to this project the residents of Bunet and Tohatin will have water supply services delivered at European standards. Connecting the entire municipality to the water and sewer supply system is a priority for Apa-Canal, and a proof to that are the projects that are implemented in all the towns and villages within the municipality area. The leadership of the utility stressed that 2011 was a very important year for the municipal water and sewer supply system, a year when a series of projects valued at 200 million lei were started. Among the major facilities that are being built is the sodium hypochlorite disinfection unit at the Chisinau Water Treatment Station, which will be inaugurated in late May 2012. The Apa-Canal's leadership also assured that rates will not increase in 2012.
