Offices of the National Anticorruption Center arrested an inspector of the Cahul Tax Inspectorate for taking 1,000 lei bribe from a company. The functionary asked for money for not reporting the violations identified during an inspection, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Center, the inspector was caught in the act of taking the money. He faces three to seven years in jail and a fine of up to 60,000 lei for passive corruption.
Another tax inspector is suspected of complicity, while the head of the Tax Control Division of the Cahul Tax Inspectorate of committing other corruption-related offenses.
