Canadian investment in Moldova's agriculture

A delegation of Canadian parliamentarians are in Moldova on an official visit that aims to enhance economic cooperation, in particular in agriculture, and identify potential sectors for investment, the Government said in a press release. Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat today met with the Canadian delegation, represented by David Anderson, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources, and Dennis Doermer, Senior Market Development Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture. The subjects discussed included the initiation of a Moldo-Canadian cooperation in agriculture and in the IT sector and attraction of Canadian investment into other sectors of the Moldovan economy. Vlad Filat stated that the visit of the Canadian parliamentarians to Moldova is significant and creates a basis for strengthening not just interpersonal but also interstate relations. “Through communication and cooperation we will be able to implement investment projects, and for this we need to proceed with the reforms, both in the economic sectors and mentality-wise, in order to ensure a sustainable modernization process”, stated Vlad Filat. For their part, the Canadian officials thanked the premier for the openness showed as regards cooperation and the intention to develop an investment partnership. In this context, David Anderson said that his country is interested in developing cooperation to exploit all the investment opportunities.
