Presidential candidate Nicolae Timofti has exceptional qualities that are rarely found in Moldova, but he is slightly isolated and should meet with the press and representatives of civil society, said the political analysts contacted by Info-Prim Neo. “Nicolae Timofti is a compromise candidate and a person who met the conditions of most of the political forces in Moldova. Few candidates can have such exceptional qualities and this is his main plus. But we will yet see how Mister Timofti copes with the duties of President. It is evident that he is a very good candidate and we expect that he will be a good President,” said Anatol Taranu. He also said that it may turn out that Nicolae Timofti is the ruling alliance’s puppet. “But it depends on the approaches that he will adopt as President. Theory differs from practice,” said Anatol Taranu. Political analyst Oazu Nantoi said we will realize how Nicolae Timofti is really like only if he becomes President. “If you want to know a person, give him power. If Nicolae Timofti is elected, we will see his behavior,” said the analyst. Oazu Nantoi considers that Nicolae Timofti should ensure more transparency. “I think that he must at least give a news conference before meeting with Igor Dodon, talk to the press and representatives of civil society, state his views and priorities, and show that he is open,” he stated. Anatol Taranu believes that the head of state can be elected on March 16, while Oazu Nantoi is not sure about this, but considers that the chances are great. The special commission for the election of the President registered Nicolae Timofti as a candidate for the presidency on March 12. The 58 lawmakers of the AEI signed in support of this candidate. The presidential elections will be held on March 16. The President is elected by Parliament by 61 votes.
