Candu and Bodrug elected Deputy Speakers

Democratic MP Adrian Candu and Liberal MP Oleg Bodrug were elected Deputy Speakers. They will work alongside Deputy Head of Parliament Liliana Palihovici, IPN reports.

The two Deputy Speakers were elected in the May 30 sitting of Parliament. Adrian Candu gained 59 votes, while Oleg Bodrug 54.

In the same sitting earlier, Democratic MP Igor Corman was elected as Head of Parliament. Afterward, the Government led by the Liberal-Democrat Iurie Leanca was given a vote of confidence.

Also on Thursday, the MPs made several changes in the permanent commissions. Liberal MP Ana Gutu was named head of the commission on foreign relations and European integration, while Democratic lawmaker Raisa Apolschii was voted in as head of the legal commission on appointments and immunities.
