The monthly benefits paid to the persons who look after adults disabled since childhood, children with the severest disability degree and blind people will be raised from 50 to 300 lei, under a Government decision adopted Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Minister of Social Protection, Family and Child Galina Balmos, a condition is that the recipients must not be in the full care of the government. Through a series of another amendments, death benefits for the uninsured will be raised from 600 to 700 lei, while the allowances for taking care of the persons disabled by the Chernobyl disaster from 100 to 300 lei. The Government also proposed to raise the monthly child benefit for the insured persons. At present these persons, traditionally mothers, receive 20 percent of the monthly salary received 6 months prior to the maternity leave, but not less than 100 lei. It was proposed to raise the percentage to 25 and the minimum amount to 250 lei. Galina Balmos has said that these expenses are provided for by the Social Insurance Budget.
