The former head of the Security and Information Service's Operative-Technical Division, who is charged with illegally wiretapping the phone conversations of a former and four current officers of the Service will be also tried in another case that was remitted to court on March 30, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, the lieutenant colonel who was suspended from post is accused of ordering tapping the phones of former MP and current Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase and lawmaker Mihai Godea in different periods in 2009, in the absence of an authorization. In the same case, the former SIS officer is accused of ordering illegally wiretapping the phone conversations of MP Mihai Godea in April-August 2009.
The case involving a senior inspector for exceptional cases of the Ministry of the Interior was also sent to court. The prosecutors established that the police officer falsified documents and obtained authorization for wiretapping the phone conversations of Viorica and Vitalie Nagacevschi in February-August 2009.
Last yearend, the Prosecutor General's Office remitted to court a case over the violation of the right to secret phone conversations, abuse of power and falsification of public documents. Another inspector of the Ministry of the Interior was accused of illegally tapping the phones of Veaceslav Untila and Serafim Urecheanu, who were then MPs.
The Prosecutor General's Office informs that a number of other cases over illegal wiretapping of political leaders are being examined and will be soon remitted to court.
