Political analyst Viorel Cibotaru considers that the Constitutional Court’s decision that the December 16 elections are unconstitutional forms part of a scenario. “I’m against conspiracy theories, but the latest political actions point to the degradation of the political process in Moldova and this can lead to the degradation of democracy in the country,” the analyst told Info-Prim Neo. Viorel Cibotaru believes that in the created situation the Parliament should dissolve itself, while Marian Lupu should ask the Constitutional Court to establish the exact circumstances in which the legislature can be dissolved. In another development, Viorel Cibotaru said that Oazu Nantoi, who fielded himself for the post of President for the January 15 elections, became the leader of a civic movement that has not yet strengthened itself, but he showed his ability to be an informal leader in society. As to the candidate proposed by the PCRM, the analyst said that the opposition party used the name of Leonid Talmaci to play a game. “It was an embarrassing game for Talmaci, as it was for Groppa and Duca (the candidates put forward by the Communists in the presidential elections of 2009 and 2005 – e.n.). Talmaci is a kind of reserve,” said Viorel Cibotaru. The Constitutional Court declared the December 16 presidential elections unconstitutional because the secrecy of the vote was infringed. Thus, the January 15 elections will not take place.
