Ceban and Nastase hold lead with 50% of votes counted

The polling places closed at 9pm and no majore incidents were reported, according to the Chisinau District Electoral Council. With about 50% of the votes counted by 10pm, the Party of Socialists’ candidate Ion Ceban polled 41% of the vote, the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase – 31%, while independent canididate Silvia Radu – 17%.
 
Chisinau District Electoral Council deputy head Ina Babin said the voter turnout in the municipality of Chisinau was 35.5%. Almost 226,000 voters cast their ballots in Chisinau municipality. The voting wasn’t accompanied by incidents.
