The electoral system of Moldova enables to prevent the fixing of elections, the president of the Central Election Commission Iurie Ciocan (CEC) said in a program on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.
He underlined that the election results cannot be influenced on the election day, any advertisement or appearance of an electoral character being banned on this day. In this connection, Iurie Ciocan said the politicians who demand recounting the votes have a reprehensible behavior as damage of 7 to 9 million lei is caused thus to the state.
The CEC president expressed his regret at the ethics of the Moldovan politicians in the election period. “The politicians should have a more sincere and correct behavior. There is only one case in the history of elections in Moldova when an election runner congratulated the opponent on the victory in elections. Our politicians usefully do not admit defeat and start to assert that the elections were rigged and the mass media disseminate these unsound statements. I call on the politicians and the media outlets to show greater responsibility,” stated Iurie Ciocan.
He also said that he sees nothing illegal in the fact that some of the parties started to campaign before the official start of the election campaign. “Such behavior is normal. It is politicians’ job to campaign 24 hours of 24 during 365 days a year. The major question should be: Where do these politicians take money from?” concluded Iurie Ciocan.
