“They should resign. The only solution is to resign. It is the most honorable method of departing a job,” the president of the Association of Historians of Moldova has told Info-Prim Neo. Gheorghe Musteata referred to the Communist government and its poor management of the events that followed after the April 5 elections.
Instead of taking steps to calm the people down, ensure public order and avoid violent outbursts, the Communist government made everything possible to worsen the situation, not reacting adequately to isolate and neutralize the violent provokers that were among the peaceful protesters demonstrating in front of the Presidential Office and the Parliament on April 7, the Board of the Association of Historians says in a statement.
According to Gheorghe Musteata, the maltreatment of the young persons is terror against the own people. “Aren’t these young people that are being beaten citizens of Moldova? They should answer for what they have done, but should they answer with their health?” Musteata asked.
The historians ask the authorities to stop “looking for a scapegoat for the deplorable situation in the country, for which only the Communist government is to blame.’
The Association of Historians demands an international investigation and condemns the unfounded ill-treatment, arrests and torture of the peaceful participants in the April 7 protests, when the buildings of the Parliament and the Presidential Office were devastated.
