The 23-year-old Rodica Chilianu from Criuleni, who won a number of trophies and laureate diplomas at music contests, needs a difficult operation in order to survive hydrocephalus, a brain disease that took her sight at the age of 5 and affects her ability to walk. The surgery to prevent her immobilization costs US$65,000. Chairman of the National League of Culture Workers Oleg Volontir said they want very much this operation to be performed. Together with other artists, they decided to stage a charity concert, IPN reports.
The performance titled “Girl who sees with her soul” will take place at the National Philharmonic “Serghei Lunkevich” in Chisinau on April 10, starting at 6pm. It will involve the singers Ioana Capraru, Vitalie Dani, Veronica Ghimp, Igor Cuciuc, Mariana Mihaila, Luciana Spinu, Nona Marian, Xenia Siminciuc, Laurentiu Popescu, Victoria Lungu and Johny Barbu, the bands Catharsis and Olpions, and the folk dances ensemble “Busuiocul”. Tickets are available from the National Philharmonic’s box offices for 100 lei.
“Rodica is an extraordinary girl full of hope. She should not remain in the shadow of a wish that can be fulfilled with the help of those with a kind heart,” said Oleg Volontir.
