The director of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) ViorelChetraru and any other functionary of the Center do not have access to the Government Building. In a communiqué, the Center informs that ViorelChetraru on February 19 was informed that his presence at the Government’s meeting is no longer necessary, Info-PrimNeo reports. “After initially receiving a note by which he was invited to the February 20 meeting of the Government, as usually done, the NAC director ViorelChetraru was yesterday informed over the phone by representatives of the Government’s secretary general that from today, February 20, his presence and the presence of any other representative of the Center at the Government’s meetings is not necessary,” it is said in the communiqué. The communiqué also says that this morning ViorelChetraru has been informed that the Government’s secretary general VictorBodiu instructed the State Guard and Protection Service not to allow him and other employees of the NAC to enter the Government Building. “We voice hope that the decision to ban the participation of representatives of the Center in the Government’s meetings, for the first time since the installation of the current executive, is a simple coincidence and not an attempt to intimidate the NAC,” reads the communiqué. Last week, the NAC carried out a number of inspections, including in the Government Building. The anticorruption officers found over US$40,000, €1,580 and over 24,000 lei in the office of the deputy secretary general EduardBanaruc. The head of the Main State Tax Inspectorate NicolaeVicol, who was named to post by Prime Minister VladFilat, was arrested.
