Ion Prisacaru was dismissed from the post of head of the State Main Tax Inspectorate, while Tudor Balitski was discharged from the post of director general of the Customs Service. Minister of Finance Octavian Armasu signed two orders to this effect on January 28, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Ministry of Finance says that an internal inquiry will be opened at the State Main Tax Inspectorate and the Customs Service in the near future following Prime Minister Pavel Filip’s assertions about the excessive inspections carried out at economic entities. The Premier said the companies are intimidated and a number of state inspection bodies ask for bribe from them.
Earlier this week, Pavel Filip suggested introducing a three-month moratorium on inspections performed by the state bodies controlled by the Government and on searches within investigations. He asked that the chiefs of the State Main Tax Inspectorate, the Customs Service and the Economic Police should be suspended from posts. He said that a telephone line will be set up for the people to report abuses committed in the fields.
