Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici welcomed the creation of a Veterans Council under the Premier. “It’s time to start to work out solutions in concert,” the head of Government said in a meeting with participants in the 1992 Nistru war on March 6. He asked the veterans to draw up a document that will include all the problems faced by them, IPN reports.

The Premier said he understands very well what the combatants and their families went through. “My father also took part in the war. I was 15 and I remember how I followed what happened then with fear,” he stated.

The head of the Union of Independence War Veterans Eduard Maican said an accurate assessment should be carried out as the figures show there are 29,000 war veterans, but in reality there are at most 15,000 such veterans.

On March 2, it was 23 years of the armed conflict for defending the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Moldova. As many as 287 persons were killed that war, while over 450 were injured, with 289 of these having a disability degree.
