About 4.2 million lei will be allocated from the coffers of Chisinau municipality to rehabilitate the water supply system in the village of Tantareni, Anenii Noi district, in a bid to convince Tantareni residents to stop blocking the access to the city dump that is located near their village, Info-Prim Neo reports. Councilman Oleg Cernei suggested that the agreement to be signed with the Tantareni authorities should expressly stipulate the obligation of the latter to guarantee access to the landfill. “An unpleasant situation could happen – we allocate the money and the residents continue to stage protests and block waste disposal”, he said. Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu assured the councilmen that wouldn't happen and said the draft agreement would be prepared for the Council's consideration at the next meeting. Tantareni residents have repeatedly barred the access of the waste vehicles to the city dump, complaining of its toxicity, which polluted their water sources and lands and made many people sick. Previously the municipal authorities financed some road repairs in the village of Tantareni as well as medical examinations for its residents.
