The Chisinau administration is looking for places were to store the dry leaves that could be used as compost for farmland. For the time being, the leaves collected on the Chisinau streets are transported to the Purcel Mine, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At Monday’s meeting of the City Hall, deputy mayor Vlad Cotet said that earlier the leaves were taken to the waste dump in Tantareni, but now this is impossible.
“The waste dump in Tantareni is already full. We store the leaves at the Purcel Mine, but the space there is limited,” the deputy mayor said. Thus, they are in search of places such as hollow grounds and recipes where the leaves could be left to turn into compost.
Eliferie Haruta, the head of the Green Spaces Association, said that about 260 employees collect dry leaves every day. 200 trucks of dry leaves and 129 trucks of dry branches were taken out of the city last week.
The Housing Division transported about 800 trucks of dry leaves collected in Chisinau the previous week.
