An almanac of Romanian literature from Moldova in German, English and French titled “Archipelago” was launched at the "Onisifor Ghibu” Library in Chisinau on December 23. Book coordinator Vitalie Ciobanu, chairman of the International Association of Writer’s Office in Moldova, said the book is a proof of the richness of the Romanian literary which Bessarabia can be proud of, Info-Prim Neo reports. The anthology “Archipelago” includes works by such famous writers as Lorina Balteanu, Leo Butnaru, Aureliu Busuioc, Vasile Romanciuc, Arcadie Suceveanu, Mihai Cimpoi, Emilian Galaicu-Paun, Constantin Cheianu, Vladimir Besleaga, Spiridon Vangheli, and Vitalie Ciobanu. By the genres it contains, “Archipelago” is an attempt to draw the political class’ attention to Moldova’s development course, said Vitalie Ciobanu. Besides the original texts, “Archipelago” contains their translations into English, German and French. This is a novelty for Moldova. The head of the Writers Union Arcadie Suceveanu said that this almanac is an ‘opener’ of new horizons and a reanimation of the process of translating the national literary works. The almanac “Archipelago” was issued in 500 copies and will be launched in Vienna in February. The book appeared with the financial support of the Kultur Kontact Institute, Austria under the aegis of PEN Club Moldova (the International Association of Writer’s Office (International PEN) based in London), in cooperation with the Romanian Cultural Institute.
