Chisinau City Hall mobilizes all municipal services to cleaning campaign

Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca demanded that all the municipal services be mobilized to a cleaning campaign. At Monday's meeting of the City Hall, he called on the people to lend a hand, Info-Prim Neo reports. It is two weeks before Easter, but the officials say only one third of the planned cleaning works have been carried out. “A lot of work is yet to be done, but we will manage to complete the works by Easter,” the head of the Public Amenities Division Petru Gontea said at the meeting. The head of the Green Spaces Association Eliferii Haruta said 1,200 hectares of green areas have been cleaned and about 210 tonnes of garbage collected so far. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked the population to help clean the city. “The civic and ecological education is necessary, especial for children. I call on the residents of Chisinau to get involved so that we have a cleaner city,” the mayor said. The City Hall will provide trucks for transporting the garbage for the persons and institutions that will get engaged in the campaign. The Chisinau administration intends to set up a dump for construction waste and asks the municipal police to monitor the situation and penalize the persons that throw garbage in unauthorized places.
