The social campaign to collect food products for socially underprivileged people that was launched by the Chisinau City Hall before the Easter holydays continues this week as well, mayor general Ion Ceban announced on April 21, IPN reports.
The mayor said the persons who make purchases in five shop chains in Chisinau can donate products for those in need by putting them in special boxes at the exists of supermarkets. “We aim to reach out to as many people who need assistance as possible. The campaign was organized at the request of citizens, who expressed their readiness to contribute and support persons in difficulty,” stated Ion Ceban.
Last week, about 1,500 parcels with food products were donated to persons in need. Another 1,718 parcels were distributed to a number of institutions, including the Center for Homeless Persons. Also, 2,243 persons from Chisinau daily benefit from social assistance.
