The Chisinau District Electoral Council will notify the court about suspicions that the candidate for Chisinau mayoralty of the Shor Party Reghina Apostolova received money from Russia for the election campaign. If the reports are confirmed, the Council will demand to annul the registration of Reghina Apostolova as an election runner, IPN reports.

The decision was taken following the provision of information by the president of the National Unity Party Anatol Salaru. Attending the meeting of the Electoral Council, Salaru said there are payment orders showing that a sum of 200,000 lei was transferred by a Russian company to a foreign capital enterprise based in Moldova. This, for its part, transferred the money as a donation to the electoral fund for conducting the election campaign of candidate Reghina Apostolova.

The representative of Reghina Apostolova said there are no reasons for taking legal action as the transfer to the electoral fund was made by a national legal entity and the founder of the enterprise is a citizen of the Republic of Moldova. Thus, the Election Code wasn’t flouted.
