Students of Animation, Game Design and Multimedia Production Faculties met with high school and college graduates at a new edition of the Professions of the Future Forum. Now in its third edition, the forum is a platform for dialogue for pupils and the over 500 first- and second-year students studying the new specialties introduced in 2021 at the Moldova State University, the Technical University of Moldova, the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts and “Ion Creangă” State Teacher Training University of Chisinau, IPN reports.
“The Professions of the Future Program is a unique experience for the Republic of Moldova because something different from our usual university environment was created,” said Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun. The official suggested that today’s young people are advantaged by having 70% of the professors from the industry, who work directly in business every day and know very well the workforce requirements. At the same time, a lot of investments were made in this field. “Both the state and the international partners invest. The expectations are high and we bank on these investments to bear fruit. Economic potential exists, but there is also a need for specialists who will want to become entrepreneurs after graduation. We are very confident that this spirit will generate successful companies and, in the end, a whole new industry in our country,” stated said Dan Perciun.
Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Moldova Laura Hruby said that Moldova will become a member state of the EU and this is the future for which these programs will prepare students – a democratic, prosperous and safe future in which Moldova is fully integrated into the global economy.
“The world is changing in an unknown direction and that’s why we seek to offer our students what they don’t get in basic universities. Within the Professions of the Future Program, students gain both skills and experience,” said Vasile Braga, executive director of the COR Creative Industries Association in Moldova.
The forum participants had the opportunity to interact with experts from the creative industries, participated in practical workshops and career guidance meetings. They also found out details about study or internship opportunities at companies operating in the field. The young people mentioned the importance of understanding that new technologies are not only a source of relaxation, but also a field in which they can develop and make money.
The Professions of the Future Program is developed by the COR Creative Industries Association in Moldova and Mediacor, with the support of the Moldova Future Technologies Activity, funded by USAID, Sweden and the UK, under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Moldova State University, the Technical University of Moldova and “Ion Creangă” State Teacher Training University.
