Chisinau municipality doesn’t face danger of flu epidemic, Luminita Suveica

The head of the Chisinau City Hall’s Health Division Luminita Suveica said that no danger of a seasonal flu epidemic exits in Chisinau, while the medical institutions are ready to deal with possible cases, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the February 4 meeting of City Hall official, Luminita Suveica said that nine cases of seasonal flu, seven of which in children, have been confirmed in the municipality of Chisinau so far this year. “An epidemic starts from 180 cases per 100,000 people. We do not have so many cases in Moldova. 20,000 persons were vaccinated against flu in Chisinau municipality. No flu epidemic is expected,” she stated. The doctor recommended seeing a doctor immediately after the first flu symptoms appear so as to receive treatment. The viral infections can be prevented by washing regularly the hands, avoiding public places, and isolating the sick persons. More than 50 cases of seasonal flu have been recorded in Moldova since the start of this year. Over 30 cases of them were detected in Ungheni district. A woman and a young man who were diagnosed with AH1N1 flu died.
