Chisinau residents ask City Hall to stop construction of attic-like apartments

The people living on the streets Dimo and Braniste in Rascani district sent a collective petition to a number of state bodies and to the Chisinau City Hall, demanding that the construction of attic-like apartments be stopped as they are built not in accordance with standards and the right to ownership is violated, Info-Prim Neo reports. The signatories request the Chisinau Municipal Council to abrogate the strategy for building attic-like apartments on blocks in the capital city. They also ask holding accountable the functionaries interested in the construction of such apartments. The petition was also submitted to the Presidential Office, the Government, Parliament, the Prosecutor General’s Office and other state institutions. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said that the right to ownership is not infringed by building attic-like apartments, while the quality of the construction works is examined by the State Construction Inspectorate. “Attic-like apartments will continue to be built. This is the only solution to the problem of leaking roofs. A technical examination is performed for every block,” he stated. The petitioners also staged several protests and demanded halting the construction of attic-like apartments.
