Chisinau residents can check blood sugar level gratis

During about a month, all the residents and guests of Chisinau can check the blood sugar level free of charge. The blood sugar level checking campaign was launched on Monday, December 7, by the Diabetes Association of Moldova “ProDiab”, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the organization. The campaign will be carried out in the Hippocrates drugstores located in the municipality of Chisinau. It aims to identify the persons suffering from sugar diabetes and protect the persons with such a disease and those that form part of the risk groups. There were 49,080 persons suffering from sugar diabetes in Moldova at the start of 2008. Out of them, 395 were children with sugar diabetes of the first type, while 72 were teens with sugar diabetes of the second type. In January this year, there were about 55.000 persons suffering from this diseases, including 500 children. The number of such persons is actually two times higher as the disease in many cases is not detected or many people do not consult the doctor. The campaign will last until December 31. Russo St), “Posta Veche” (2/4 Socoleni St), “Telecentru” ( 13/1, Docuciaev St).
