Christmas Tree comes with surprises for Chisinau residents

The lights on the Christmas Tree located in the Great National Assembly Square and on the main arteries of Chisinau will be switched on on December 1 at 17.00. For the first time, the Chisinau authorities will organize a Christmas Fair near the fir tree, where there will be sold sweets, soft drinks, Christmas souvenirs and gifts. The fair will be held at the suggestion of Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Public Relations Division of the City Hall.
The mayor said the Christmas Fair and the switching on of the lights in this period are part of the European traditions. “I hope the fair in central Chisinau will create a holiday atmosphere,” he said.
A concert dedicated to Christmas will be given at the Organ Hall on December 9, starting at 18.00. The program of the cultural and artistic events will continue with an Evening of Carols at the Organ Hall on December 13. Cleopatra Stratan will hold a carol concert at the National Palace on December 20.
Concerts involving Moldovan artists will be given starting with December 23. The Gala of the municipal winter traditions festival “Florile Dalbe” will take place in the Great National Assembly Square on December 25 staring at 13.00. Pop and folk music stars will give a concert in the square on the same day starting at 17.00.
The New Year's Eve Concert will start at 20.00 on December 31.
Such European cities as Brussels, Paris, London, Riga, Köhln and Odessa already turned on the holiday lights. New York, Bucharest, Kiev, Iasi and other cities will do it on December 1.
