The National Center for the Protection of Personal Data (CNPDCP) launched the personal data monitoring Registry. This system will force personal data operators to notify the CNPDCP before staring personal data processing. Additionally, anyone interested will be able to find out what operator, and with what goals, processes their personal data, reports Info-Prim Neo. CNPDCP deputy director Vasile Foltea stated, at a press conference, that the registration of personal data operators starts today, August 15. “It is a point that took us three years to reach, due to lack of financing. It is a simple system. The operators’ registration is available on-line. There is no tax for registering”, said the CNPDCP director. Now, a store that collects personal data from its clients, in exchange for a shopping card or other services, must notify the CNPDCP. Otherwise, it will receive administrative punishment. “The registry serves an information source for the population, for the subjects. It will be possible to access the register, and when you receive a personal document, you also receive a code. You input the code and will be able to see which operator has your data”, added Vasile Foltea. According to the CNPDCP director, the measure is part of the National Implementation Program of the Moldova – European Union Action Plan on the liberalization of the visa regime. The system cost the 2011 Moldova Electronica budget 1,220,000 lei.
