Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin on Monday signed a decree to assign a battle flag to the Service for Civil Protection and Emergencies, an agency of the Ministry of the Interiors, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the presidential press service, the banner is “the symbol of unconditioned service and devotion of the staff in defending the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova. It reminds every member of the staff and command of the sacred duty to defend the public order, the life, health, rights and liberties of the citizens, the interests of the society and government, from attempts of criminal nature and other threats”.
The battle flag has been assigned at the suggestion of Interior Minister Gheorghe Papuc.
A total of 9 battle flags have been assigned to Moldovan paramilitary units through presidential decrees in the history of independent Moldova.
