The Civil Society Congress will sue the Alliance for European Integration for keeping the power by force. “For the first time in Moldova, there will be a trial where the people will demand that the government answer for its actions,” the Congress’ president Fiodor Ghelici said Thursday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Earlier, the Civil Society Congress filed an application to the Prosecutor General’s Office, demanding that legal action be taken over the invalidation by Parliament of the November 18 elections. According to Fiodor Ghelici, the MPs intentionally postpone the election of the head of state so as to remain in power. The Prosecutor General’s Office answered that there are no acts of power usurpation by the government and the procedure for electing the head of state is legal and performed in accordance with the Constitution. Fiodor Ghelici said there is no usurpation of power, but the forced keeping of power is an illegality. He stated that all the leaders of the AEI should be held accountable, but the burden will be borne by Speaker Marian Lupu, who may be sentenced to 15 years in jail. One of the representatives of the Congress, Igor Caldare said the AEI is unable to change the situation in the country. In every party there is by at least a person who committed offenses. “They will not yield power voluntarily. During the two years there were adopted hundreds of laws that caused damage of millions of lei to the state,” stated Igor Caldare. Another representative of the Congress, Alexandru Iudin said that all the human rights are violated in Moldova. The crisis continues because the government cannot reach a compromise. Felix Mihailean considers that the persons who used their posts to enrich themselves should be held accountable. The Civil Society Congress promised to file a lawsuit in the nearest future.
