Three clandestine brokers accused of large scale fraud committed in Chisinau towards Russian stock investors were placed under arrest. They were in charge of 25 telephone operators, which contacted potential clients from Russia and convinced them to invest in financial shares on international stock exchanges.
The Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases mentions that, after the money was deposited, when the investors wanted to withdraw their deposited amount and the dividends, they could not do so. At this stage, there have been identified victims who could not recover amounts between 150 and 88 thousand dollars.
The activity of the group was run from abroad, by a person residing in Israel. The three men detained in Chisinau are between the ages of 28 and 31 and risk imprisonment from 13 to 15 years.
