CMC to consider 20% salary hike for social municipal services

The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) will examine at its meeting on Tuesday, January 22, a draft providing for a 20% salary increase for the employees of the municipal social services for 2008, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the same meeting, the councillors are to consider signing the Protocol to the Chisinau-Iasi Town-twinning Agreement. The agenda also includes a project on ensuring transparency and enhancing civic participation in city decision making. In addition, the councillors will consider issuing letters of guarantee for preferential loans to some categories of population; will decide on increasing funding for free meals provided by pre-university and preschool establishments for the year 2008; will set the allowances for the heads of pre-university, preschool and extra school institutions; will consider naming a school after the Russian writer Anton Cehov; will approve the municipal cancer combating Action Plan covering the period 2008-2010, and other. The last item on the order of the day is to decide on the size of allowances for councillors. The agenda includes 17 items.
