The procedure of acquiring health insurance for 2015 will be announced next week, IPN learned from Silvia Munteanu, spokesperson of the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM). In previous years, insurances were already available by this time. This year's delay is caused by the fact that the 2015 Health Insurance Funding Billis yet to be adopted.
Health insurance is compulsory in Moldova. For employees, a monthly payment is withheld from their wages. About 61,000 natural persons, including notaries, lawyers, founders of individual businesses and other categories, are required to buy health insurances by themselves. The same applies to those who don't have an official job, but aren't registered as unemployed who are insured by the state.
According to the 2015 Bill, the monthly payment will be increased from 8% to 9% of the salary. Half will be paid by the employee and half by the employer. The fixed price of the insurance for 2015 is 4,860 lei.
