Coat of arms to be put obligatorily on public institutions

The presence of the coat of arms on all the public institutions will be mandatory. A bill to this effect, proposed by the Lib-Dems, was passed in the second reading. The coat of arms will not be put on damaged buildings or on buildings under repair, Info-Prim Neo reports. The coat of arms will be also obligatorily placed on the buildings of public authorities and institutions, offices of managers, meeting, protocol and festivity halls, head offices of education, scientific and cultural institutions, buildings of border crossing points, ports, airports, bus and railway terminals. The coat of arms must be put in the middle of the building’s façade, in the upper part or above the main entrance. The colored coat of arms will be placed on the buildings of embassies, consulates and commercial representative offices of Moldova. The profanation of the coat of arms by dirtying, marking, burning or other ways will be punished criminally or administratively in accordance with the law. The replacement and destruction of the damaged or worn-out coat of arms will be done in a ceremonial manner. The use of the coat of arms in an armed conflict in which Moldova does not take part or as elements of trademarks is banned.
