The cold-month allowance that is provided from the state budget was raised by 50 lei to 250 lei a month, following a decision taken by the Government, IPN reports.
In order to benefit from such allowances, the families on low incomes must submit an application to the local social worker. The allowance is offered for November, December, January, February and March (1,250 lei cumulatively). If the family is eligible, the allowance is paid from the month the application is filed.
According to Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga, the number of recipients of such allowances will increase by 7,500 families.
The families that have a color TV set, refrigerator, automatic washing machine or computer are not entitled to cold-month allowances even if their incomes are low.
