The legislative initiative by which the Communist faction suggested banning the adoption of Moldovan children by persons from countries where euthanasia is accepted didn’t garner the necessary number of votes in Parliament, IPN reports.
Euthanasia is the practice of killing without pain a person who is suffering from a disease that cannot be cured. Communist MP Igor Vremea said that recently Belgium became the second country in the world that allowed euthanizing children. In the Netherland, this medical practice is legal for children under 12.
The Communists submitted such a proposal because most of the Moldovan children put up for international adoption suffer from severe disabilities or diseases. They consider that these children face the risk of losing their lives in a country where euthanasia is legal.
More than 200,000 people from 20 countries signed an open letter addressed to the Belgian king, asking not promulgating the law on euthanasia. Members of religious organizations and child protection associations believe the killing of incurably ill children is immoral.
