The Communist lawmakers will not cast their ballots in the presidential elections that will be held within the special sitting of the legislative body. The announcement was made after the plenary meeting of the PCRM’s Central Committee on December 16.
The sitting will be attended only by the PCRM’s representatives on the special commission for the organization of the presidential elections, but they will not take part in the voting, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The chairman of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin said that today’s elections are a farce aimed against the country. “This is a farce against the county, the people, the statehood and the sovereignty of our country. We will take part neither in the voting, nor in the sitting,” he stated.
According to Vladimir Voronin, the ruling alliance’s candidate for the presidency Marian Lupu did not invite the Communist parliamentary group to a meeting to discuss the program he intends to implement.
The Communist leader also said that if the elections do not take place today, the Communist Party is ready to hold talks and discuss another candidate and will not insist on a candidate on behalf of the PCRM.
