The councilors of the Liberal Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party and the mayor general of Chisinau aim to boycott the work of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), to perpetuate the chaos and, consequently, to organize early elections so as to install an authoritative regime of the mayor. The Communist faction on the CMC issued a statement on September 29 after another attempt to convene the Council failed, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The Council has been unable to work for two months because a quorum is not present,” reads the statement. The Communist councilors said they were accused of attempting to institute a monopole on the composition of the CMC’s commissions without being invited to discussions and without raising the issue in the Council’s meetings.
“We had to issue such a statement because the situation forces us to take measures as soon as possible in order to change the state of affairs in the Municipal Council,” says the statement.
Only the Communist faction presented itself at the City Hall on September 29. The meeting could not be convened again. A meeting can take place if it is attended by 26 councilors. The Communist faction now includes 24 councilors as Zinaida Grecianyi and Igor Dodon renounced their seats and are to be replaced by substitute candidates.
