The Communist faction left the April 19 sitting of the legislative body, showing thus its disagreement with the Democrats’ bill that provides for the institution of a joint electoral system for legislative elections. The leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin said that this bill will enable to bribe the voters, IPN reports.
According to Vladimir Voronin, the Liberal-Democratic MPs will vote for the bill in the second reading too as the two factions reached an agreement. In exchange for the vote for Vlad Plahotniuc’s bill, the Democrats will vote for Vlad Filat as Prime Minister.
Under the joint electoral system, half of the MPs will be elected directly by the people, while the other half under party lists. The voters will receive by two ballots. The bill was passed in the first reading on April 18.
