Before the October 17 sitting of Parliament, where the MPs are to examine the censure motion against the Leanca Government, members and sympathizers of the Communist Party staged a protest in front of the Palace of the Republic. Carrying placards and red flags, they demanded that the Government be dismissed and that early elections be held, IPN reports.
The leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin said that if their demand is not satisfied, they will mount large-scale protests all over the country as there is no other way out. “If they do not come here, we will go after them,” he stated.
The protest was peaceful. The MPs of the government coalition and the representatives of the Government didn’t react to Communists’ acts.
On October 10, the Communist opposition put forward a censure motion against the Leanca Government. The Communist lawmakers accused the executive of taking steps to dispossess the state of Banca de Economii and of the Chisinau International Airport.
