The Communist lawmakers staged a protest in the January 21 sitting of the legislative body. They used two loudspeakers to interrupt Speaker Marian Lupu, when he wanted to make known the sitting’s agenda, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Communists asked for explanations as to why an extraordinary session of Parliament wasn’t called as the Communist faction required in a petition signed by 34 MPs. They also proposed including a decision concerning the dismissal of First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc in the agenda. Marian Lupu refused to put the proposal to the vote, arguing the decision was drafted not according to the constitutional norms. When the Head of Parliament asked the chairman of the legal commission for appointments and immunities Victor Popa to come to the rostrum and pronounce on the discharge of the prosecutor general, the Communists switched on two loudspeakers and didn’t’ allow the MP to speak. The Speaker announced a pause for things to calm down.
