“Not only did the Communists initiate schemes which have resulted in rising prices and tariffs that continue today, but they also left the state's coffers exhausted and an economy on the verge of collapse, so that a great part of the constant economic growth that is achieved by the current Government has to go to close the gaps left by them”, this is how Igor Volnitchi, spokesman for PM Vlad Filat, commented on the statements made by Communist MPs Igor Dodon and Zinaida Greceanyi earlier today. Igor Volnitchi stated at a press briefing that the Communists' purported constructivism and willingness to contribute with solutions to the issues resulting from the rising prices is “hypocritical conduct and disrespect for the citizens”. “The rising prices represent a direct consequence of the (formerly governing) Communist Party's actions. Let me recall the Protocol signed by Zinaida Grecianyi, the then Deputy Prime Minister in the Communist Cabinet, with the Russian concern “Gazprom”, which provided for a rise in the gas rates, including in 2011”, said Volnitchi. Igor Volnitchi added that the Communist government also planned to suspend preferential loans, fire around 5,000 teachers and force the remainder to work longer hours. At a press conference earlier on Wednesday, Communist MPs Zinaida Greceanyi and Igor Dodon accused the Filat Cabinet for inefficient management which has led to a wave of price increases. They also offered to contribute with solutions to the rising prices.
